What happens after death?
I am looking for some light on life after death. Personally, I believe in eternal life immediately after death, but others think it will be possible only at the end of the world, at the resurrection of the flesh.
Please, enlighten those who doubt. As for me, my faith will be fortified and I will find the strength to spread it.
The Lord often spoke about eternal life. Our hope is based on the event of His resurrection. He is "the first-born of the dead" (Col 1: 18). We too shall rise again. Our life shall go on through a glorious transformation.
The Lord has promised us this eternal life, but He did not expound what it is. How could He have made us grasp the bliss that awaits us? It is beyond our comprehension: "Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it so much as dawned on man what God has prepared for those who love Him" (1 Co 2: 9).
Immediately after the end of our earthly life, we shall live with the Lord, in communion with Him, the bliss of Heaven.
At the end of the world, our body shall be revived and transformed. Our whole being shall be completely filled with eternal joy in God's Heaven, in harmony with the Lord and all the saved ones among our relatives and friends. "...From my flesh, I shall see God" (Jb 19: 26).
Such is our hope, a hope that does not deceive. "He who raised up the Lord Jesus will raise us up along with Jesus" (2 Co 4: 14).
